My Vegan Sweet Orange Oil Rescue Balm Recipe

At last I've finally moved house, business and built a new studio and can finally get back into my blogging and all the exciting stuff I have coming up to share with you all!

First up- I've written a piece for my local publication. I will be having a regular feature every month. A sneaky peak of my article is below. I've made lots of this balm and my brides have given some to my brides too. It's easy to make and just be careful not to boil as this will affect the consistency of your balm. If you want it softer just adjust the quantities used.

Happy balm making 😊💖

The change in temperature with the winter months can really affect our skin and hair. Cold air, wind, and low humidity outdoors dry your skin out. Similarly, central heating indoors steals moisture from your skin.

Without the proper care, dry skin can lead to redness, itch-iness, chapping, and cracking, and even other skin conditions such as eczema and acne. One of the best things to counteract dry skin at this time of year is organic raw shea butter and vitamin E oil. I recommend these to all my clients.I use both myself religiously throughout the year but especially in cold weather. You only need the smallest amount to massage into your skin so it’s really cost effective. And even if you have oily skin, both ingredients are non-come-dogenic (non-pore blocking) and can be used to soothe and protect. You can make your own body butter/lip balm and I want to share the simple recipe I use with you.The ingredients are inexpensive and natural and you can create something that is great for your skin and smells delicious. You can also package it up to make great gifts.

• 63 grams Organic coconut oil

• 32 grams Organic raw shea butter

• 25 grams Candelilla Wax (vegan alternative to beeswax/carnauba)

• 1 tsp (or as required) Sweet orange essential oil

Combine the ingredients and heat gently in a saucepan until the mixture is clear. Add your essential oils just as you remove from heat. Carefully pour into suitable containers/tins and allow to set fully before putting the lid on.

All the ingredients are available from Amazon. The above quantity makes approximately 30 x 5ml containers (also available from Amazon).
